This immersive experience in the jungle is designed for travelers who want a true exploration of the jungle, authentic cultural encounters and unforgettable moments with the fauna.
With more than 600,000 hectares of protected forest, Cuyabeno is one of the largest and biologically rich reserves in Ecuador.
From sinuous rivers of black waters to flooded forests and remote lagoons, every moment in Cuyabeno feels like entering a living documentary of nature.
Tomorrow: reception at 11: 30 a.m. on the entrance bridge to the Cuyabeno Reserve, where you start the downstream trip by motorized canoe for approximately 2 hours.
Afternoon: During navigation, the naturalist guide provides information about the reservation and important recommendations, while the first look of the jungle, birds such as caciques, oropas and Hoatzin, as well as monkeys and other typical animals according to the weather and the conditions of the day, is observed.
Night: arrival at Jamu Lodge around 2: 00 p.m., welcome from staff, room allocation, lunch, rest and exit to Laguna Grande to enjoy sunset; then return to the lodge for dinner and free time in hammock or bar.
Tomorrow: early breakfast and walk about 3 to 4 hours through the primary forest, where the guide explains about the tropical forest, medicinal plants and the small and large fauna of the forest.
Afternoon: return to the lodge for lunch, rest time and exit to observe butterflies and swim in the lagoon, with the possibility to see species of the area in a natural environment.
Night: dinner at the camp and night activity focused on the search for caimans on the banks of the river
Tomorrow: breakfast and exit by canoe river down for about an hour to visit a family of the Tarapuy community, where you participate in the preparation of casabe, the traditional yuca bread of the area.
Afternoon: During the activity you learn to use materials and utensils of the jungle to make the bread; the return to the lodge is planned at around 2: 00 p. m., followed by lunch and a moment of rest.
Night: short walk through the primary forest to observe night insects like spiders, gekos or scorpions, and listen to the sounds of the night in the jungle.
Tomorrow: optional birdwatching tour before breakfast, depending on the weather conditions; then breakfast at the lodge.
Afternoon: exit in a native "quilla" canoe to observe birds and go around, combining sailing by rowing with walking through the forest to admire nature and have better opportunities to observe monkeys and flooded forest.
Night: return to the lodge after an experience of about 4 to 5 hours, with free time to rest and enjoy the environment.
Tomorrow: optional birdwatching tour before breakfast, subject to weather conditions.
Afternoon: breakfast and transfer back to the entrance bridge to the Cuyabeno Reserve, where the tour ends.
Night: end of program and departure from destination.
